About the Department

The MCA Program is one of the potential Post Graduate departments in our college incepted in the year 2008 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students. This course is approved by AICTE and is affiliated to University of Madras, Tamil Nadu.

MCA department had produced 100% results in most of the University Semester examinations from the first batch. Students have secured high marks and some of our students have got University ranks. Corporate Companies visited the Department to enrich the students in the growing technical trends in the software industry, which has enabled the students to get placed in top Software Companies across the globe.

The department frequently invites resource persons from top IT corporate to conduct seminars, workshops and guest lecturers that facilitate the students to enrich their knowledge with the latest technologies that stand in the field of Information Technology. Apart from the academic excellence our Students have performed exceptionally well in various extracurricular activities held outside the college , Also most of our students are placed well in reputed top Information Technology companies in various parts of the globe.

The department now offers MCA Course both in Regular Stream (duration: 3 years) and Lateral Entry Stream exclusively for B.Sc. (Comp. Sc.), BCA , B.Sc. I.T. ( duration : 2 years).The main focus of this program is to make the students industry ready and prepare them for over all development in their carrier

Master of Computer Applications at Guru Nanak College is composed of core subjects organized for developing the skill of students in ability to generate creative solutions and foster team-oriented, professionalism with effective communication in their careers.

Electives are chosen in areas such as Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Python Programming, R Programming, MATLAB Programming and other latest technologies allow students to explore areas of individual interest.

The department further aims at emerging as a centre for Research in Computer Science with facilities for offering M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes.

OBJECTIVE

PEO 1 : Enable students to understand and analyze real world scenarios and to design software that are technically excellent and economically feasible .
PEO 2 : Aid students to achieve recognition as an individual or team member; by adopting ethics and professionalism and communicate effectively .
PEO 3 : To develop employability skills among students by Bridging the gap between Industry and Academics and Train students to meet industry needs.

Program Outcomes

MCA graduates who will have successful careers based on their understanding of formal and practical methods of Application Development using the concepts of computer programming, software and design principles. They can work in different domain across globe. The curriculum of this course helps in follow aspects:

MCA graduates who will exhibit effective work ethics and be able to adapt to the challenges of a dynamic job environment.
After few years of experience they can be an entrepreneur and also employability to others.
They can also focus in the Research and Development areas and work with different R &D Centers across globe.
They can work in different government establishments where computer are used.
